I attended Northwestern College but have had a knack for teaching ever since I was a child. I have worked in the classroom for 10 years now, expressing my love of helping people understand concepts that they previously hadn't. Most of my teaching experience is in the field of English, but I like to consider myself a well-rounded teacher of whatever the students need. I am comfortable tutoring all across the English spectrum, as well as in the subjects of History and Social Studies and assisting students as they prepare for standardized tests like the SAT. I always try to keep in mind that teaching young students isn't just about getting the current material across but rather an ongoing process of helping them grow into productive and thoughtful members of society. I attempt to provide them with the tools that will assist them as they go forward learning in whatever field they choose. I try to come up with creative ways to solve problems when one of my students runs into a concept that he or she can't quite grasp. In my free time, I enjoy doing reading and writing of my own, as well as photography and spending time outside.
